Curious about what the upcoming Microsoft Windows 7 operating system will look like? About its new features? About whether you can look forward to using it effortlessly after suffering through or working around the Microsoft Vista operating system?

Then join us on Saturday, July 18, 2009, as long-time CPCUG member Mark Mabee shares the fun of exploring the Windows 7 "release candidate" and investigating the capabilities of the next Microsoft Windows operating system, which is now scheduled to be available October 22, 2009.

Speaker: Mark Mabee, an IT network professional, is a long-time member of CPCUG. He has been the featured presenter at a number of CPCUG events and has handled technical questions during pre-presentation Q&A sessions at other events.

Note: Those who want to try out the release candidate of Windows 7 must download the code by August 15, 2009:

There is no charge. Once the code is downloaded, it may be installed later. You may also get additional product keys after August 15.

Location: One-half block south of the Cineplex Odeon Uptown movie theatre on Connecticut Avenue, NW, Washington, DC. (There are many restaurants suitable for pre- or post-meeting gathering/networking/refreshment in the block north of the library.) 

Metrorail--Cleveland Park Station on the Red Line (on Connecticut Avenue, just 1.5 blocks north of meeting site

Parking: Very small lot, off Macomb St., to left of library. 

Free and open to all 


CPCUG Member-Only Door Prize Drawing at end of some meetings!  


Optional Post-Meeting Gatherings 

Several times a year a smaller group (usually about 8 to 12) goes to Nanny O'Brien's (directly across the street from the library at 3319 Connecticut Avenue, NW, 202-686-9189, open noon Saturday to 2 am Sunday) or another local establishment for continued conversation, networking, and refreshment following the meeting. (Participants pay for their own beverages and food.)
