iPads, Smartphones, Netbooks, Accessories, Plans, Software, Services, and More

Speaker:
Rob Pegoraro, The Washington Post

What's worse than forgetting your laptop's power adapter before embarking on a 5-day business trip? And, choosing not to pack your phone's power adapter—because you can just recharge it off the laptop's USB port. This month's speaker, Washington Post technology columnist Rob Pegoraro, managed to pull off this two-fer of blunders 3 years ago on his way to the Consumer Electronics Show, but then managed to put in a solid week of reporting.

Pegoraro—who, despite his youthful appearance in some out-of-date photos, has been doing this long enough to remember when "filing copy" meant dialing up to a Post-run BBS and pasting text into a terminal window—will talk about what to do in that situation. He'll also share other tips about gadgets, software, and services he's used and appreciated when traveling for the Post and on his own dime.

Speaker: Rob Pegoraro writes the "Fast Forward" column, a weekly look at computers, the Internet, and consumer electronics, and the "Help File Q&A" feature. Online, he writes the "Faster Forward" blog, hosts Web chats, and holds forth on Twitter.

Pegoraro has been with the Post since 1993, during which time he has sorted mail and answered phones, written for many other sections (so far, his byline has appeared in National, Metro, Style, Sports, Health, Food, Home, Weekend, Real Estate, Outlook, Sunday Arts, Sunday Source, Travel, Book World, and the Magazine), and made it onto the front page twice.
