Choosing a Server-Side Technology Speaker: Mike Snyder, WestLake Internet Training Modern Web sites integrate with live data from databases. This presentation covers the advantages and disadvantages of several leading Web-to-database integration technologies: ColdFusion, Active Server Pages (ASP), and CGI scripts written in PERL or Java. We know you have questions--here's your chance to get the answers you need! Speaker: Mike Snyder received his BA in Russian Studies from Haverford College in Pennsylvania, then spent a year in Novgorod, Russia, studying Russian literature. He returned to the United States to pursue a Ph.D. in Soviet History at the University of North Carolina (UNC), Chapel Hill. At UNC Mike taught a variety of undergraduate history courses, ranging from ancient Russian history to survey courses on western civilization. While at UNC, Mike became involved in Web development, taking part in an initiative to incorporate the Web into undergraduate education. After helping several departments at UNC gain a Web presence, in May 1999 Mike joined WestLake Internet Training as a trainer. Today he is the General Manager for WestLake's Washington, DC, Metro Region. When not training or helping run the DC office, Mike works on his dissertation on Soviet Television in the 1950s and 1960s. Mike Synder may be reached at MSnyder@westlake.com.
