How To Start and Grow a Business 
Without Venture Funding:
The World of a Multimedia and Internet Development Company
Speaker: John Redmon, Redmon Group Inc

John Redmon will share his experiences in starting the Redmon Group on a shoestring and a prayer, and in developing the company into a recognized force in the multimedia industry. He will also share his views on starting and growing a company in today’s challenging economy. 

In addition, John will tell us of his experiences in developing multimedia and Web projects, and share interactive technology development strategies. He will demo samples from the creative portfolio of the Redmon Group, including projects completed with the following clients:

  • Discovery Channel
  • Smithsonian Institution
  • Time Life
  • DEA
  • Pope John Paul II Cultural Center
  • National Guard Museum
  • Arlington County 
Speaker: Mr. Redmon received his BA and MBA from George Mason University. He resides in Alexandria, Virginia, where he serves as the 2003 Chairman of the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce.

Redmon Group is a multimedia and Internet development company located in Alexandria, Virginia. Privately owned, the company was founded in 1990 out of John Redmon’s apartment. Thirteen years later, Redmon Group is a multimillion dollar company that has recorded 11 years of profitability.

Redmon Group designs and develops custom multimedia and Web products including--

  • e-Learning tools
  • Interactive museums
  • Multimedia CD-ROMs and DVDs

Meeting room entrance is on Newark St.--at right side of library.
2nd floor meeting room is up one flight, or use main library entrance on Connecticut Avenue and go to 2nd floor via elevator at back--then turn left and go to open door at end of hall.

Location: One-half block south of the Cineplex Odeon Uptown movie theatre on Connecticut Avenue, NW, Washington, DC. (There are many restaurants suitable for pre- or post-meeting gathering/networking/refreshment in the block north of the library.) 

Parking: Very small lot, off Macomb St., to left of library. 

Metrorail--Cleveland Park Station on the Red Line (on Connecticut Avenue, just 1.5 blocks north of meeting site

Optional Post-Meeting Gatherings 

Several times a year a smaller group (usually about 8 to 12) goes to Nanny O'Brien's (directly across the street from the library at 3319 Connecticut Avenue, NW, 202-686-9189, open 2 pm Saturday to 2 am Sunday) or another local establishment for continued conversation, networking, and refreshment following the meeting. (Participants pay for their own beverages and food.)
