Introduction to Linux
Speaker: Cliff Bailey, The Computer Doctor and
CPCUG DC Vice President

Heard about Linux? Want to know more? Come to the February CPCUG Entrepreneurs and Consultants SIG meeting for an introduction to Linux. Using a PC with a working Linux system on it, we will look at the similarities and differences between the Linux and Windows desktops for using the Internet, doing e-mail, writing letters, and creating spreadsheets.

Speaker Cliff Bailey will also share his experience using Linux in a "Windows" world and give away several CDs with Linux. If you get your hands on a Linux CD, take it home and give Linux a spin. No installation is necessary. Users can boot right from the CD.

And, bring your questions--there will be ample time for Q&A.

Speaker: Cliff Bailey has been in the computer industry since 1972, beginning his own consulting firm in 1977. Since then his company has worn many hats: selling Unix-based computer systems; writing programs in languages as diverse as COBOL, Java, and Smalltalk; and performing system and network administration, and day-to-day management of production systems. Clients are businesses with a need for IT support but with too few computers to justify a full-time support staff.

Cliff began using Linux in 1999 and has been an advocate ever since.

Cliff Bailey is a past president of the GlitchDC SIG and is currently the DC Vice President of CPCUG.
