Cost Effective Content Management Speaker: Steve Drucker, President/CEO, Fig Leaf Software Audience: IT Managers, Developers, Communicators, Designers, Information Architects, Business Owners Prerequisite: An interest in understanding how Web-based content management systems (CMS) can benefit your organization After reviewing basic CMS concepts, principles, capabilities, and features, the functionality and price points of six industry-leading products from different vendors will be compared and contrasted:
Speaker: Steve Drucker, CEO of Fig Leaf Software, founded the company with Dave Watts in 1992. Steve is a co-author of the best-selling book The ColdFusion Web Application Construction Kit and is a Macromedia Certified Training Instructor (originally an "Allaire Agent"). He has served as project leader on several high-profile ColdFusion-based applications for Bell Atlantic, GlobalOne, MCI, and other Fortune 500 organizations. Steve founded the first ColdFusion User Group (CFUG) and has authored numerous articles focusing on scalability and advanced Web development technologies for the ColdFusion Developer's Journal. In addition, Steve has been a featured speaker at trade shows including the Allaire (Macromedia) Developers Conference, Flash Forward, Web '97, and FedWeb. Before creating Fig Leaf Software, Steve was a C programmer and ventured into database programming with Microsoft FoxPro, developing the first nationally distributed commercial real-estate listings database and the first Windows-based client-server interface to the Virginia Multiple Listings Service (MLS). Steve holds a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Maryland. Fig Leaf Software was founded in 1992 as a custom-software development firm specializing in database application development using Microsoft FoxPro. Staying ahead of the industry wave, Fig Leaf shifted company resources in 1995 to focus on the development of Web applications and data-driven Internet sites. Clients include Bell Atlantic, Alltel Communications, Estee Lauder Corporation, Fannie Mae, T. Rowe Price, Verizon Communications, American Chemical Society, Defense Research Institute, World Resource Institute, Federal Aviation Administration, Bureau of Justice, the Architect of the Capitol, and the U.S. Mint. (map) Location: One-half block south of the Cineplex Odeon Uptown movie theatre on Connecticut Avenue, NW, Washington, DC. (There are many restaurants suitable for pre- or post-meeting gathering/networking/refreshment in the block north of the library.) Parking: Very small lot, off Macomb St., to left of library.
