Drawing on cognitive psychology, marketing research, and business strategy, Janine Carey will describe the five elements of a successful brand and present a roadmap for development.

Speaker: Janine Carey founded and is president of The Mkt. Group, Inc., a full-service marketing firm. Janine focuses on management consulting, strategic marketing, brand development, and marketing communications. 

Prior to founding The Mkt. Group, Janine Carey launched GTE Web Solutions, overseeing a staff of 30, with responsibility for profit and loss, product development, marketing and sales, and business development. At GTE Information Systems she created a measurement-based 3-year integrated marketing and public relations plan, and launched its national brand awareness campaign. At DynCorp, an information technology company with approximately $2 billion in annual revenue, Janine Carey was Director of Corporate Communications. She has also held marketing and communications positions with trade associations, a nonprofit organization, and the city of Washington, DC, and has been a TV and print journalist.

A frequent speaker/lecturer at industry events and universitie, Janine Carey has won more than a dozen awards for her work. Janine earned her B.A. in communications from Marywood College and her M.A. in marketing and public relations from the University of Maryland.

Parking: Very small lot, off Macomb St., to left of library. 

Metrorail--Cleveland Park Station on the Red Line (on Connecticut Avenue, just 1.5 blocks north of meeting site) 

Free and open to all

Several times a year a smaller group (usually about 8 to 12) goes to Nanny O'Brien's (directly across the street from the library at 3319 Connecticut Avenue, NW, 202-686-9189, open 2 pm Saturday to 2 am Sunday) or another local establishment for continued conversation, networking, and refreshment following the meeting. (Participants pay for their own beverages and food.)
