Using Print on Demand and e-Publishing
To Build Your Business
Speaker: Ken Chaletzky, President, Copy General Corp.
Panelists:
Heidi Swenson, President, Digital Division, Inc., author of Webmaster Boot Camp®
Dirk Johnson, Owner, ROIWebsites, author of the e-book Turn Your Hobby Into a Money-Making Website! What Works and Why

There's been a lot of discussion about on-demand, short-run, and even ultra-short-run printing. Is it really possible to print 100 books cost effectively? 10 books? What about 1 book? How about books by the chapter or reprints on demand? Can entrepreneurs and consultants make use of this rapidly improving technology as a tool in building their businesses? Ken Chaletzky will take us beyond the advertising hype, telling us a little of the history of digital technology and what current digital technology can and cannot do. He'll share with us information about the true cost of on-demand and short-run printing, including back-end costs of taking and processing orders.

And what about e-publishing? And e-books? Where can they fit into your plans? Come to this meeting to learn whether the time is right to use print-on-demand or e-publishing technology for your software and training manuals or for that book you've been thinking about.

Authors and business owners Heidi Swenson and Dirk Johnson will share their own publishing experiences with print on demand and e-books, identifying where costs and savings may be lurking.

Speaker: Ken Chaletzky, president of Copy General, has been involved in many aspects of publishing for more than 20 years. His interest in software and computers led him to become a pioneer in digital typography at Circle Graphics and then in digital printing at Copy General. An in-demand speaker on the topic of digital printing, Ken has also presented tutorials on various software publishing packages and on the learning curve involved in transitioning from one software product to another, such as from Adobe PageMaker to Adobe InDesign.

Copy General Corp. services include copying, finishing, and digital print-on-demand solutions. Headquartered in Sterling, Virginia, it has 28 locations around the world, including four in the Washington, DC, area. It was one of the first two firms in the United States to test the Xerox DocuTech 6180, and it continues to be a pioneer in the field of high-speed digital printing. With compatible systems in its domestic and international locations, including the Xerox DocuColor 2060 digital press, it is able to prepare and proof jobs locally, and then transmit ready-to-print files for printing and distribution around the world.
